Easter 2013

With my twins birthday and Easter in the same week, things have been a bit crazy.  But we managed to squeeze everything in.
On Friday night we colored Easter Eggs.  (36 eggs in all and I'm the only one in my family who likes potato salad).  Oh, well.  Most of them may get eaten before they go bad. The point is for them to have fun.  This was my 2 1/2 year old's first year coloring eggs.  He did very well and had a blast.

On Saturday morning the kids found their hidden Easter baskets...

And on Sunday afternoon, we had an Easter Egg hunt in the back yard. This was the first year we've ever had a real back yard so it was very exciting for us to do it outside on a beautiful sunny day.

And thanks G. & G. H. for the cute bunny sun glasses.
The kids love them!

Happy Easter everyone!

Happy Birthday!

Will and Fiona turned 9 years old a few days ago! I can't believe it!  It seems like yesterday they were so fragile and tiny in my arms.
We had a busy week with their birthday on a Wednesday and a party with friends on Saturday and Easter on Sunday. But we survived and here are the pictures to prove it...

I decided to make their cakes this year.  Fiona requested a monkey cake and Will requested a dragon cake.  I am not talented at this so I made things as easy as possible.  I made a real ugly volcano and just bought plastic dragons to put around it for William's cake.  He thought it was awesome!
And for the monkey cake I just cut out fondant in the shape of a monkey, copying cakes I found on the internet.  The cakes were not perfect by any means, but the kids loved them and that's what matters.

After the kids got home from school on their birthday we let them open presents...

Then, after dinner, we did the cakes...

We had to wait till Saturday to have a party for them.  I decided to do a candy themed party.  It's the last generic party theme I could think of.  It looks like we'll be having separate parties from now on.  With boy/girl twins their interests are only similar for so long.

                                                          Decorating sugar cookies...

The ever favorite pinata...

Even little James joined in...

I was so proud of William.  He broke the pinata!

A game of 'Red Rover'...

Eating cupcakes...

Present time!

One final group picture before it was time to go home...

The kids all seemed to have a lot of fun.  And now we are left with tons of candy leftovers.  We'll never have to buy candy again!
